Singer Starlet -bobbin winder does not work?

I have a very old Singer Starlett which has served me well for approx 30 years, Now I find that the bobbin winder/filler has stopped working anyone know how I can get it working again.

I managed to get my foot pedal working properly after visiting this site.
Many thanks

Hi Ken
Many thanks for this it sounds like it might be the rubber as it suddenly stopped in the middle of filling up the bobbin. Is it a complicated job and would I be better taking it somewhere to be fixed?

Hello Rose,
If the winder has seized and will not move you will need to put a few drops of WD40 on the top of the spindleand let it run down and leave it overnight, if you have an electric drill put it over the top of the spindle and tighten the drill up hand tight then switch the drill on slowly if you can, once you have the spindle turning, stop, put a few more drops of WD40 on the spindle and do the same again, once it is moving freely you should be okay, if it is a case of the winder turning then suddenly stopping it may be the winder rubber worn down one end which means taking the body apart to get to it.
