check transmisson (gearbox) fluid. if low check for leaks around sump seal, change if leaking, fill with correct amount/type of fluid, start car, Keeping the brakes on, go though gears to settle fluid, and try that, if problem still there then ask your bank for a loan and go to automatic transmisson engineer.
