How do I replace the oil filter on a Mk1 Renault Clio 1.8 16V?

Does anybody know how to replace the oil filter on a Mk 1 Renault Clio 1.8 16V? Access is very limited from the top. I have been told to go underneath the car and reach up but it looks impossible!

Renault certainly squeezed that engine in!

Hi, I have to do it myself because the sump has been patched up with a filler and the garages said that legally they cannot do the change incase there is a problem in the future.

The advise you were given is correct, drive it up on ramps and go in from underneath,Why bother, take it to a Quick Fit type garage and let them do it,by the time you have bought the filter, went to the bother of it all, disposed of the filter and mess, cleaned up,topped the oil level up again it is not worth the bother, save yourself the time and money, look in Yellow Pages for Oil change type garages and go there,I have done loads of them,it aint worth the hassle now.If your determined though, you have to go in from underneath.
