Hard vectra brake pedal?

I have a 2000 vectra 1.8 petrol. Occasionally when braking the foot brake goes hard for the first few seconds before feeling normal again but I can hear and feel the ABS working.
The fluid level is good, and the brakes do not feel spongy as they would if there was air in the system
Can anyone help

hi john,
had the same problem on my 2001 1.8 vectra with exactly the same symtoms, turned out to be a cracked pick up ring gear on one of the front drive shafts. i dont think you can just replace the ring gear and probably have to change the drive shaft.
hope this helps and good luck.

kwikfit do a free brake test, they might be able to tell you.
