Hotpoint 1000 stops at the rinse cycle?

My hotpoint 1000 stops when it reaches rinse. I can move it on manually past the rinse and the rest of the wash cycle works okay, other than the clothes are still full of detergent.
I have tried differrent cycles but it still does the same.

Hi multiskilled,

Thanks for your spot on answer. I have had the same problem for decades - washing machine stops at the rinse stage/phase. As you said, it was because the cold water was not getting into the machine.

To whom it may concern, I turned a knob on the water pipe (that the cold water cable is attached to) that looks like a screw, from horizontal to vertical, then cold water started getting to the machine. It now works perfectly.

multiskilled, I sincerely wish you the very best.

sounds like your cold water inlet valve is faulty. machine uses cold water only on rinse cycle.
INPORTANT UNPLUG MACHINE BEFORE ATEMPTING ANY REPAIRS!
