Freelander Wiper Fault?

I have a 2004 Freelander TD4. The wipers work fine on normal mode but when you put them on the intermitent function they stop half way across the windscreen. I would be grateful if anyone has an idea of what the problem might be.

do they park ok in normal mode,if not then it may be park mechanism in wiper motor, if they park ok then it is probably a faulty timer/relay for wipers.
