flashing glowlight?

The glowlight in my 1999 Ford Galaxy flashes intermittently. The brake lights still work and there is no loss of power.
Can anyone offer advice ? Is this serious ?

p & wickham - many thanks for taking the time to answer. As it happens the braking is a bit soft so it could well be the brake fluid ? I'll check the brakes and hopefully that will do it. Thanks again.
