what do i do to prevent the siren from sounding when i access the control panel

most modern panels will fire if you key in pin more than a certain amout of keypresses,it shows a tamper light or call engineer if its a monitored system,and has been programmed as such,

does the panel go into alarm as soon as you put in your pin?what leds are lit when the panel fires?it is very unusual for a panel to fire when you put in pin,check that the front cover is secure,i.e.its not loose as this will set of the tamper switch,the screws for the front cover are under the two long bars at top and front of key pad
