It's a tricky issue. Your device is corrupt and so isn't recognised by your PC. Because it isn't recognised you can't easily format it to restore the storage.

Try searching on download.com. There are lots of free utilities which claim to be able to fix USB/flash drives. I expect download.com will have some options for you.
