Hi I have a hotpoint aqaurius and the door lock doesnt work straight away, I have to push on the door on different bits of the door to make it click locked. Is this a general fault that I can get fixed or fix myself?

The door catch fitted on the porthole is a zinc casting, file the flat face edge a few times and see if it improves the locking and working of machine.

also check the door,it can crack near the hindge,this causes door to drop,and interferes with the lock

it is a common fault,easily rectified,unplug washer,remove the doorseal from outside edge,(there is a wire with a spring holding it in place,)remove the two screws that hold door lock in position,you can get to it by putting your hand inside the machine through door when the gasket is off,check to see if its a two or a three wire lock,you can buy them from most repair centres,or direct from hotpoint,
