streaming videos from pc to tv?

I have a Sony TV that supposedly allows you to view media stored on my PC. I have set up my PC to share media with the TV (both Sony) initially, the TV could only see the windows pre-installed pictures but none that I had placed onto the PC. I changed the properties on my files on the security tab to include the same groups as those pictures it could see and this immediately rectified the problem with photos. However, when I attempt to stream videos from my pc onto my tv, the tv cannot find any video files whatsoever either pre-installed samples or those added later. I've included INTERACTIVE & SERVICE groups to the video clips (the 2 that were missing on the pictures), but this has failed to resolve the matter. Please, anyone out there with any assistance it would be appreciated????

There are multiple ways of connecting your computer or laptop to TV, as for me the easiest one is to use HDMI cable, when you connect your PC to TV, you just need to set an external monitor as a main one and your TV will start showing everything you have on laptop or computer screen. I got this information from this article http://www.askwiki.net/How-to-Connect-Pc-to-Tv and there are more of different ways how you can proceed this.
