How can i fix my ford galaxy's grinding brakes?

I have just bought a galaxy and the brakes have started grinding, the abs light comes on and off on the dash too (not sure if these problems are connected) I have had the brake pads checked and all seems ok there but the problem started a few days ago and seems to be getting louder! any suggestions?
