I can't get the till to go to the normal REG mode; just beeps at everything. Seems to have some sort of error code relating to PLU.

Hi the system was off for over 2 years and now the till wont allow any key strokes and has random characters on the screen with wrong date and time.
What can be done to resolve this?

All you need to do thinking about this is with key at register press the x/time key (as well as showing power fail total & number of initial clears done does it show date & time ?) if it does just x/time will clear this hope this helps.

with key at (P) Program. Turn off at plug . Hold down cash key & plug back in keep holding cash key about 5 secs then release then turn key back to register this should unlock any error etc you are stuck in .MAKE SURE KEY IS AT P posistion when you try this hope this helps.
