banging noise on rinse cycle?

when my creda simplicity 1000 washing machine is on normal wash mode it works fine, but on the rinse cycle it makes a constant banging noise.

I'd guess it was either the dampers (under the drum) or the springs (above the drum) failing. More likely the former. the banging is probably the motor hitting the inside of the outer case.
