Hi.there must be an easier way to slacken the tensioner on the tinming belt and set the timing correctly on a 1993 Vauxhall cavalier,without cutting your knuckles to bits.

usually start at the crankshaft and work your way anti clockwise with the belt,before removal you will have put the correct pins/bolts etc in each relevant pulley,as a back up I usually mark each pulley against the head/block with tippex and after fitting belt,give the engine a couple of turns and make sure the marks line up when back to your original position
