how to fix kymco venox 250 starter?

hello i will like to know if i'm going this the right way,i got a 2006 kymco venox 250,starter turns but will not turn motor sounds like when a old chevrolet flywell its missing spots,like the bendix its not going the full turn tu engage engine and turn it over ,please advice thankyou

well the bike will have a starter clutch on it and the horrible noise will be the starter clutch attempting to grip,the starter clutch is located behind the variator on this model and has a set of 3 rollers and 3 springs the springs go weak and get dirty whcih stops them from putting as much tension on the rollers and therefore make them useless and also the part of the starter cluthc that the rollers grip on can sometimes get worn uneven and need either replacing or a good reworking with some wet and dry paper to make it smooth again.i usually give the springs a bit of a pull while they are out too.:)
