guess you have fixed it by now ..but some info about the LF ..it doesn't have a stop solenoid valve..the alternator warning doesn't mean the alternator is U/S ..at a guess you probably had a broken wire at the front of the cab ,roughly where the loom flexis for tilting the cab...i can't remember off the top of my head ,but when the batteries are below 20volts,the engine ecu basically shuts down and you won't start ...though i still reckon you had a duff wire
