Tefal GV 7150 - faulty switch?

I purchased a Tefal GV7150 Steam Iron some 16 months ago and the switch on the handle that controls the steam flow no longer works and steam flows uncontrollably. I would have expected this iron to last a bit longer without such a basic fault. Can it be repaired and ideas as to cost? Tefal state this is not an inherant fault and have refused any form of compensation.

inherent fault my a##. take a screw driver and fix the problem yourself. It's the cheapest way...

The pressure control switch on the iron (presumably this is what you meant) is made of cheap plastic and it probably broke.
Get a screw driver, open iron cover and stick a nail about where the plastic hinges of the button supposed to be. The original retaining mechanism (ie the top handle holding the hinges) will hold the nail in place and the button will work again.

I have a problem with the combi-hose. At the base, as far as I can tell the cables worn out. If I can't find the spares, I'll trim the cable/hose and make like new... simples ;)
