cambelt on daewoo matiz?

does a snapped cambelt damage the 800cc matiz engine?
don chamberlain, August 2010
in fact the belt was replaced and it started first time - the valve's intact and undamaged! So don't despair!

not all engines damaged by cam belt snapping eg small fiats are ok believe also Audi

some you get away with but these uaually damage the valves, afraid the head will have to come off, maybe cheapest option is to get a cyl.head from a scrappy and check piston height in the cyl`s for bent con rods,it is very important to replace the belt at regular intervals

a broken cambelt will damage ANY engine, do not start engine or you will cause major damage, get replaced asap, if you cannot do it get a mobile techie out, will be cheaper than garage as you car will need to go on the back of a tow truck adding to expence.

hope it helps, August 2010
