This machine has suddenly stopped taking in water. We have checked the water connection pipe and that is clear, we have drained the base of the machine as far as possible with a sponge to soak the water up. We have unscrewed the waste outlet and checked nothing blocked there. Any other solutions which might make it return to life again please ?

I am answering my own question, having spoken to an extremely helpful local man who mends dishwashers. We set it to a prewash programme with the water turned off and discconnected and waited for it to reach the humming stage. After 30 seconds of it humming, we reconnected the water hose and turned it on. Hey Presto it started taking water in and is now working fine. Hope this helps if anyone else has same problem.
