how do I fix the cigarette ighter in a chevy cav?

I need to use the cigarette lighter to plug something in- but the lighter socket doesn't work. How do I fix this?

First you need to know if there is voltage to it by checking the center voltage plug with a test light and if theres voltage there its a ground problem ..........be sure to check fuses and make sure theres nothing in the socket as I have found alot of times
