focus lack of power?

ford focus got lots of power and acceleration but once driven for a while and u come to a hill it lacks power and runs like shit,just doesnt seem to like inclines,its my mates car and i drove it yesterday and seems fine up and down my road,any ideas.thanks

When the clutch begins to fail it often first shows on hills - the steeper the hill the worse it is.

There is greater load on the engine on a hill and a greater chance of a worn clutch slipping - even though the revs may be high the car slows down.
