i have fitted new clutc cable to laguna; with great difficulty; pedal is soft and clutch will not clear any idea s thanks

Have you removed the plastic clamp that comes on the the cable which retains the internal cable tensioning spring. It is about half way along the cable and is marked 'do not remove until cable is fitted'
I have changed my '96' Laguna clutch cable recently and found it very difficult (access to the top of the clutch pedal' but managed it in the end.

The cable needs to be adjusted to take up the free play, that's if it's not of a self adjusting type!
