Kenmore 70 series electric dryer-start button will not start dryer?

will not turn on. no humming sound, no turning, no nothing. We replaced the start button but it made no diffirence. Any suggestion?

When you replaced the start button, did you replace the switch behind it as well? If the contacts in the switch are not touching, the dryer won't start.

To get to the switch and see if it is causing the problem, follow the step-by-step instructions found here at FixYa.com:

Hello,

If your lint filter is on top of the dryer, your thermal fuse is on the back of the dryer, connected to the blower housing. It is white and about 3" long. You have to remove the panel in the back to view the fuse. You can test it with a ohm meter or bypass it if you know what your doing with electricity. If the dryer runs with it bypassed, you have a bad fuse. If your lint filter is inside the door, you'll have to access the fuse from the front. Hope this helps.

Not a Clogged dryer vent, that was taken all apart. How do you know which fuse to replace??

Carla, July 2006
Hello,

A bad thermal fuse would cause this situation. They usually blow when the exhaust heat gets too hot, ie clogged dryer vent.
