99 transit swb2.5 is putting out alot of smoke when under pressure?

my trainsit is putting out alot of black smoke when taking off and at gear changes,it does not seem to be burnig alot of oil,oil and filter where changed 3000miles ago,is the engine in trouble? only 90000 on the clock

take EGR valve off clean it with diesel and a tooth brush reasemble then take it down the road second gear foot to the floor for quarter mile and will clear it
