how can i fix my singer 7146 upper tension unit which has come out, how can i reinsert it

Hi Andy,

I had the same problem as Ruth and I happenned upon your answer.
I was able to fix it myself and save some $$!
All I had to do was buy myself a small flat screwdriver to adjust the grub screw.

I wanted to thank you because you have made my day alot easier!

It's easily reinserted. There's a small retaining plate on the top screw that will fall out if you remove the screw and if this happens, you'll need to remove the end cap - details of how to do this are in the manual.

However, you also need to remove the top of the machine - all the screws in the top need undoinng.

Once the top is off, you'll see a small grub screw in the ali assembly behind the tensioner, loosen this, insert the tensioner and then tighten it. Now, reassemble the machine.
