I was told i needed a new accelerater coil, I replaced one of them but its still doing the same thing. My car is a Renault clio 1.4 '55' plate.

think there is a coil pack for each cylinder,so would try each cylinder in turn,you may have a misfire by the sound of it,think this model is renowned for this

burning petrol more than normal is all about your ignition circle so, you have the air filter, flow-meter, and air sensor, and spark plugs.
so you should check for clean air filter and your flow meter and air sensor thus will bring your engine to normal.
just be careful for don't spend any cash if you not sure and take to a tuning centre better.
