gearbox?

ive just bought a second hand gearbox for a nissan almera on a n plate and the gearbox is out of a p reg and the drive shafts wont go back into the gearbox has anyone come across this problem

without shafts in the box the spider gears can move out of line and the shafts will not go in. That is assuming the other box is compatible.

try counting the splines on each g/box and compare

check the gearbox model numbers, should be on a plate or stamped onto g/box. if not the same then you might not be able to change g/boxes over.
