Wifes Ford Escort (96)?

Hi,

My wife has started complaining that her car has started to drink more fuel than usual - 18miles for £10!! Pretty bad.

Anyone know why this could be? It sometimes stalls aswell - i thought idle valve - but it doesnt explain why its using so much fuel?

Any help much appric'd - BTW i also posted a query on a locking system for the same car:

i would check the air flow meter be careful cos they are very expressive so make sure is the air flow meter but your problem is into your air intake anyway.

Air flow meter, MAP sensor, throttle position sensor any of these could give the symptoms you are experiencing, have also replied to your other Q
