I have a fiat punto 1998 and i want to tighten the handbrake,but the answers i,m getting is that i need to take out the ash tray at the back of the handbrake, but i dont have an ashtray there only a little flap which when i opened it there was no adjuster there only a bolt that keeps the handbrake cover on ,,please help

if you take the hand brake surround then you should see the cable that links to your hand brake and they should be a bolt nut in the end of the cable and just keep adjusting until you think is done. but normally when your hand brake is not working properly the best place to adjust go to your brake drum in the back wheel they should be a hole to a just your hand brake just ask to a friend who knows how.
