Engine temp gauge moves to red every time in stop & go traffic. Had coolant & hoses checked and no problems found. Could problem be the thermostat?

you will have to check your fan sometimes when the fan bearings worn out it goes to hard and sometimes it doesn't turn when it should. but when you are driving you ll get a fresh air so you don't notice but on traffic yes you will see the gage going up to fast than normally.
