Iveco Brake Issues?

Hi,

I have an Iveco Cargo which is used as a horsebox. I've recently had a brake caliper replaced to get it through its test at the end of August (apparently it was leaking) and driven it about 100 miles since then without problem. Today the brake warning light came on, although the air pressure is fine and brakes feel fine. Please could someone confirm what the warning light is meant to indicate (I had thought it was just air pressure, but does it do more than this - e.g brake fluid level)? Any chance it is linked to the caliper being replaced? It had new front discs and pads and an overhaul of front and rear master cylinders in June time so they should be good. Is it safe to continue driving or should it be consigned to the shed?

Many thanks

Thanks for the responses everyone. When checking the brake fluid level I spotted a leak and it turned out to be the seals on the master cylinder.

on an iveco cargo there are several brake w/l's
if it i a round circle with an exclamation mark in the middle then this is a brake failt w/l and can be brought on by the brake fluid system or the hydrauilic switches in the actuators.
if it is like n axle with 2 wheels then it is pad lining related .
either way don't drive it until you are sure if it is ONLY A WIRING FAULT OR A DEFENIT BRAKE FAULT AS THY ARE ALL THERE IS TO STOP you.

I think the warning light you mention also monitors the brake pads (back and front) for wear, as well as the fluid level referenced by previous contributor.

I would check the brake fluid level and if it is low, top it back up again.

Check for leaks in the hose connections to the caliper. They could have cross threaded the union nut, or simply failed to tighten it up.

If, the brake fluid level is not low, then you have another problem I guess. In that case I'd take it back to a decent garage.
