Machine won't start?

I have an AWZ 412 Whirlpool which won't start after the Hot n Cold water is filled.Any advice please? How long should it take before the machine starts?I have checked that the door shuts properly.

check the heater element is not o/c open circuit
some machines will stop the programme at this point and just sit there, assuming you using cold water allow 10-15 minutes
