04 Zafira key fob not unlocking doors?

I have an 04 1.8 Zafira which has always been good until last week when the key fob would not undo the doors.
I was told that there was probably a short in the two button fob and this needed repairing so, I sent the fob away to a reliable repairer who having checked out the fob informed me that it was transmitting perfectly. He returned the fob to me saying that it probably needed to be resynced? by inserting the key in the ignition, turning the ignition on an the pressing the button on the fob. This I have done but, nothing happens. Incidently the doors do open when the ke is inserted into the door lock and all doors open. can anyone help as this is driving me nutz.

My fob wont unlock the doors on the car. Does the fob need recoding or somthing and how do i do it?

Put key in ignition, push and hold either button and turn key to main ignition. What should happen is that the central locking will lock and then unlock itself and take the key out of ignition. Then try locking.

The usual re-sync method is, as you said, doors closed, ignition on (dash lights illuminated but DONT start engine) and push button on fob. Doors should lock then immediately unlock.
You may have to push the button a few times for it to work.
However, I found on my Vectra it would only re-sync if I got in the car, locked the doors using the knob on the door, and then ignition on, push button etc., others have said they have to leave the drivers door stood open for it to work.
If none of these work you may have to get a full reset done using diagnostic equipment such as tech-2, op-com etc.
Doesn't have to be a Vauxhall dealer, lots of independents have this equipment and will be cheaper.
To do a full reset you will need the security code for the car, which you will find on your "Car Pass" card.
Hope this helps.
