Mazda 6 cooling problem?

My car constantly smells like it's overheating. I have to add water to the radiator quite often, there are signs of coolant on top of the rad but my temp guage always sits at the same position.I'm pretty sure the guage is working fine.Is it just a new radiator cap i need or am I looking at a more serious fault?

if you are adding coolant all the time, its possible the inner seal has gone on radiator cap, i would change the radiator cap, if still losing coolant, you will need to check for any other leaks, worse case is head gasket on its way out, but try new cap first.

hope it helps, September 2010
