6.5 HP Briggs & Stratton Low Oil Circuit?

I have a 3500 Watt Pro Classic standby generator. It has an Intek pro 206 engine and I could not start it. After a lot of investigation I traced the fault to the metal cased module attached to the side of the rewind housing. The unit has two wires attached, a grey one leading to the low oil plug/switch and a white one leading to the On/Off swith. The number painted on the module is 698451 4003. When I disconnected the module from the metal housing the engine started immediately implying that the module is shorting to earth. What does the module do and is it possible to buy a replacement?

the oil level is fine. In fact I eventually traced the problem to a faulty oil sensor module that was grounding the ignition

you should replace it it tells you that the oil level is low....! and when it is will stop the engine. if you can't get the part leave it off and keep an eye on the oil level...!
