how can I deactivate my scantronic 9450 alarm?

Tamper button is active and I can't deactivate alarm. Everytime the power is cut off the alarm goes off. Installers have told me it will cost £100 to deactivate it - is there a simple solution?

and to answer acorns question, why default panel,
we have on a few occasions had the 9450 and the later 9448 go into lock out,and the only way to restore it was to default, just like rebooting a comp,
and we do know the dif between user and egin instrucs, but ta for the tip:-)

7Ah easy.
Open lid do as described above. Get hacksaw and remove bottom part of front panel (Remember to keep the lug for the tamper spring). Push back together and then go out and buy the superglue and duct tape I forgot to mention and seal it all back up.

Sorted

:P

i was wondering how he was going to fit a 7 amp battery,:-)

try it acorns way,see how you get on

Whoops, wrong size battery, sorry, replace like for like.

Oh dear, just open the control panel, with the 'mains on', you should get a tamper sound, enter your code to silence.

Remove the old battery & replace with a 7Amp.

Close the panel, enter your user code, once/twice, (can't remember), job done.

There is no reason to default the controls, you will have an even bigger problem if you do that.

Why default a perfectly good control panel.

By the way the User manual will be of NO USE to you to re-programme, that's what it is, a User Manual not the Installation & Programming Manual.

Do the above, get back again if you have further problems.

the battery is faulty,if you open the panel, you will need engineering code to reset ,the default is 07890,if the alarm company who fitted the system has changed it,you will need to do a full reset, that will put it back to factory defaults,to do this, turn mains off, open cover, remove red lead from battery, locate two little pins on the printed circuit board, place a small screw driver between them, put red lead back on battery, remove screw driver, close panel, apply mains, the user code will now be 1234,the eng code will be 07890,you now have done a full reset, you can change the user code to what it was now.i take it that you have the user manual
