how can i tell if the battery is faulty on my OPTIMA XM ?

i have no power to my key pad on my OPTIMA XM but the mains power light is on and also the green day lighti have disconnected mains power and taken the front panel off but it didnt go into tamper mode .is this possible the battery as it is 4to 5 years old
