Where is the best cheapest place to get a new windscreen for a ford ka

if it's rear that is at fault it may be an earthing fault as they rely on tailgate hinges for earth connection ,if so you will need to run a new earth lead by-passing hinges.

Hi Paul, the only power to the switch is from fuse #6 10amp is for the backlighting, the switch provides an earth to the windscreen heat relay (mounted on UK passenger side front suspension strut mount) the power for the heating element is from a 60amp inline fuse by the battery, the relay will only engage if the engine is running and the alternator warning light is "off"

fuse position should be listed in your owners manual or on the back of the fuse box cover by a symbol, to check if there is power to switch remove switch and block connector on switch and use volt meter on connection to the switch with one lead grounded off the chassis and other lead on one terminal of block connector, should read 12volt with ignition turned on. if there is voltage here and no voltage at rear windscreen then switch is gone. otherwise check rear windscreen if wires going across windscreen are broken circuit wont work and you need a new screen or may be able to repair with solder or something else
