how can I stop my ford escort overheating?

when my ford escort has been sitting in traffic for a while ,I have to park up and it won't start until it has cooled right down, why is this happening?

hi mate yeh normally i think it could be due to a leak or maby head gasket is on its way out check thermostate as could be gone so give faulse reading

is cooling fan on radiator running when overheating if not check fuse and or fan switch ( failing all else wire the fan up to an ignition live so running constant when ignition on ) dont forget to put an inline fuse 25amp on live to fan

hope this helps, September 2010
