why do clothes catch in the slot between the drum and the housing?

My dryer burns and tears the clothes as they get caught between the drum and the housing. IS there a way to adjust this?

there is no adjustment, you need a felt seal. thats the ring of material that also sits in the gap. sometimes its is just a ring of felt and sometimes it is a couple of nylon type bearings that are flat oblong pads that the rim of the drum sits on and slides over as it revolves round. as they wear down over time it creates a gap that piches and marks clothes.some machines use a combinaton of nylon bearings and felt it reallt depends on make and model.but replacing these items will solve your problem
