Where can I find the tool to open my Rowenta DM880 to replace the cord?
I have a Rowenta DM880 and from all indications, the cord has a loose connection. I know that this is easy to repair, but Rowenta has secured the end plate with unusual star screws. Where can I find the tool to open this. My husband is an electrical engineer/electrician and can easily replace the cord if he can get the iron open. Thanks for your help.

The "star screws" are a specialized "Torx" fastener. The raised bump at their bottom is a "security" feature that prevents the use of normal Torx bits. You need to look for "security bits" in a well stocked hardware store. There are a variety of different kinds and sizes. (I picked some up on sale at a local Harbor Freight store).
Once the two screws are out you simply pull back, hard, on the plate to disengage the plastic tabs that are holding the plate to the iron.

My Rowenta takes a T-20 Torx driver on the baseplate.

6 pointed security screws can sometimes be turned using a hexagonal nut driver.
If that doesn't work, you can buy the right driver at a better hardware store like Travis Perkins.
Take an imprint of the screwhead with a piece of plasticine or Blu-tack for size reference.
