How can I fix my Neff extractor hood D8990NOGB?

My Neff hood (D8990NOGB) has a noisy vibration when connected to the mains but not switched on. Hence not using it much at present.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks for reply, but I probably didn't explain the issue clear enough (my fault) :

The issue is that when the hood is plugged in but in its standby state (ie neither the fan nor the lights are switched on), the thing states to humm very loudly. The noise is intermittent, but enough of an annoyance that you end up unplugging the the hood at the mains.

Now that I've thought more about it, sounds like the transformer. Does this sound like a fair bet, and if so, is it a DIY job?

its one of two things, you have abuild-up of grease on fan blades,or the bearings are worn in the motor,if its the bearings, then time for a new hood
