How can I fix my keyfob, immobiliser part lost?

My key fob was not working, I was unable to lock my car. My husband took the battery out thinking that was the problem, he replaced it but also noticed the immobiliser part on the circuit board was missing?? to top it we have lost the spare key!. Is this something an auto technician could fix without the need for great expense at a vauxhall garage?? I have the pass card etc with all relevant information ..We are unable to start the car so would mean towing to the local vauxhall garage.

Any advice greatly appreciated..

thanks Emma

I assume you have looked around the area where he opened the key to try and find the chip..

Lots of mobile technicians, independent garages offering diagnostic testing, and even some key cutting shops, have the diagnostic equipment required to pair a new immo chip to your car, just look through yellow pages etc.
It would be worth phoning the Vauxhall for a price, they might even be able to send someone to you to fit it, it's just done with a laptop or hand-held device.

Another option would be to join

www.vvoc.com

Many of the members have diagnostics such as Op-Com, and will do the job for a few pounds at most, sometimes just for coffe and choccy biccies!
