I have the same hedge trimmer (Spear & Jackson SHT26X), used it only twice and now it wont start. changed the plug, got a spark, but it refuses to run. any suggestions please?

You don't- it's only available as a complete recoil unit as per all chinese made machinery. And that's if you can find a parts supplier for it. Good luck!!
