I have a ford Escort Est.1.8 Si.Zetec engine?

When I slow down or stop the engine cuts out,
It re-starts up O.K and I have to keep the revs.up.
Any help on what could be causing this.

Idle control valve stuck, remove it & clean it with a spray carb cleaner only!! never WD40

may have air leak on inlet manifold check all pipe's for split's or crack's/loose clip's
