Occaisionally my pajero 2.8tdi cuts out about a minute after starting. It then requires a lot of cranking with full throttle to restart it. After which it runs normally

Hi there your problem sounds like a faulty fuel pump
does it cut after about 30 seconds and when you finally get it to go again plenty smoke for a start then returning to normal? if you suspect it is, try pumping the fuel pump (located on top of the fuel filter) after the initial cutting out of the engine, then try starting her again, should work ......let me know.
