Cam Removal 1.4, 8 valve Astra?

How do i remove the cam from a 8 valve vauxhall has when i try pulling it through it is catching on the followers how can i avoid this

you need the tool that bolts to the cam housing which compresses the valve springs permitting removal of the shaft
