Central locking fault on Mondeo Mk 11. Near side rear door won't unlock?

Near side rear door refuses to unlock with remote or manually from inside the car. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong or how to open the door so I can remove the door card to check the mechanism. Central locking working ok on other doors. Would this fail the MOT?
