It is better to replace a switch or buy new? Diplomat 90mm?

My Diplomat cooker fan cannot be switched on. The lights work but fan would not come on at all. Is it a question that the switch box is faulty and a replacement will solve the problem or once replace will I discover another fault. If a switch cost around £40 and a new appliance £80 would it not be better to get a new one? I have read reviews which says it is difficult to repair as need soldering etc? Please advise.

you can check the fan by removing the rear panel of the oven,(turn mains off )and get a test meter, put it on the ac scale, put leads on the fan connections,as you get some one to turn the oven on,you should get a 240 volt reading,if you do,then the fan motor is shot,
if you dont, then the switch is faulty

the fan motor is attached by screws with rubber feet, the eletrical connection is amp tags, the motor is very expensive,so if the oven is old, better to get new one
